Eby-Brown Case Study

Printer-Friendly Version

Client:

Eby-Brown, Montgomery, IL. This is the distribution center for the Illinois area.

Eby-Brown is a distributor of candy, tobacco products and a wide variety of convenience items to convenience stores across the country.

Situation:

WEi was chosen to implement this job based on two previous distribution centers successfully completed. The client had to have facility configured to consolidate two of their existing centers, and needed capacity to ship up to 1,000,000 picks per week from this facility.

WEi Solution: WEi installed two "item" pick modules and one pallet flow module. All areas are connected to a manual merge via conveyor. The "item" pick modules consist of carton flow and shelving. All orders were required to stay in line all the way to the merge for truck blending. WEi was able to do this by having all conveyors travel from each pick level straight to the merge. At the merge eleven lines were blended into two shipping lines, which then traveled down to four truck loaders.
